Treat Your High Blood Pressure With Toprol-XL
Chemical Name: Metropolol succinate
Toprol XL is used to treat a number of problems related to cardiovascular systems such as heart attack, high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris (chest pain due to insufficient oxygen to the heart caused by clogged arteries). This drug is a selective beta receptor blocker.
The main fuction of Toprol XL is to treat stable symptomatic patients with class II and III heart failure. In most instances, such failure is caused by heart muscle disorders, high blood pressure or clogged heart arteries.

In some cases, Toprol XL may also be use to treat treat aggressive behavior, to relieve temporary anxiety, and to prevent migraines.
To get the best possible results, take Toprol XL exactly as prescribed after food and at a consistent timing daily.
If you have any health problems as listed below, you should not take Toprol XL:
- allergic to Toprol XL and its ingredients
- severe bradycardia (heart rate is extremely slow)
- sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock
- inadequate output from the heart, certain heart irregularities
Besides that, you should consume Toprol XL with caution if you happened to suffer from any liver disease, asthma, seasonal allergies, vascular disease or other bronchial conditions.
You should inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or undergoing breast feeding before you take the drug. This is because the side effects in such situations have not been studied extensively.
Over dosage in Metropolol (Troprol XL) is dangerous and may result in the following symptoms:
- slow heartbeat
- asthmatic symptoms
- heart failure
- vomitting
- shock or coma
Other commonly reported side effects include:
- mild drowsiness
- lightheadedness or dizziness
- unusual tiredness or weakness
- discoloration of skin
- swelling of your ankles or feet
- visual disturbances, dry eyes
