Cardura

Cardura is categorized under a group of drugs called alpha-andrenergic blockers. It is used to lower blood pressure (also known as hypertension). The drug allows the relaxation and expansion of the arteries and veins. Cardura also helps to ease difficulty in urinating (treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia) by relaxing the bladder neck and prostate muscles.

Side Effects of Cardura

There are some known side effects when taking this drug. Common symptoms includes dizziness or fainting. This usually happens when patients take Cardura for the first time.

An allergic reaction may also occurs. This may be indicated by the swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat. Consult your doctor if you experience any side effects including fainting, swelling, painful erections or fast heartbeats lasting for more than 4 hours.

Some Precautions While Taking Cardura

If you feel dizzy after taking the medicine, it is recommended that you take Cardura just before going to bed. However, in some instances, some patients may also feel dizzy after waking up in the morning.

If you are going to undergo a cataract surgery, it is best that you inform the doctor beforehand. This is because Cardura is known to have an effect on the pupils and such reaction may have negative effects on your cataract surgery.

It is not advisable to stop taking Cardura without a doctor’s recommendation. Besides that, you ought to inform your doctor if you have a medical history of liver problems or prostrate cancer. Your treatment may need to be altered to accommodate your needs.

Cardura can also cause harm to fetus. Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby.

What are the Things to Avoid While Taking Cardura?

Consuming Cardura will cause dizziness already, hence you should not take other drugs or medications that you cause further dizziness or sleepiness. Do not intake alcohol while taking Cardura. It will increase the side effects.

Overdosage

Overdosage can cause fainting or seizures. Seek for medical help and approach your doctor immediately in the case of overdosage. If you miss a dose, please take it as soon as possible. If the timing is very near the next dosage, skip the current dose and take Cardura on the next scheduled dose.
